2010 West Coast AI/CMC/FFR Schedule is announced!

Postby adam_ginsberg » Fri Oct 09, 2009 8:52 am

During this past year, we received a great deal of valuable scheduling input from you, the racers. The biggest message we heard was the desire to get back to the well known big CMC fields, and not be forced to choose between overlapping, or nearly overlapping events. As a result, we worked with NASA to develop a schedule that focuses on the West Coast Championship, but yet still maintains a regional schedule for the driver who wishes to race close to home.

An eight event schedule was developed that provides an even balance between north and south, features a variety of tracks, and spaces the events to allow competitors ample time to prepare. Four event Regional Championships are included in the plan to allow the racers who find travel difficult and provide an opportunity to win a championship close to home. The NorCal tracks count towards the NorCal regional championship, the SoCal tracks count towards the SoCal regional championship, and the entire 8 event schedule counts for the West Coast Championship.

The committed racer has the availability to win 3 championships in a single year, 4 championships if you include the Nationals. Standard 20% drop rules will apply to each of the championships.

2010 West Coast AI/CMC/FFR schedule:

February 27-28, Infineon Raceway - DATE CHANGED!
March 12-14, California Speedway
April 24-25, Thunderhill Raceway
May 22-23, Willow Springs International Raceway
June 26-27, Infineon Raceway
July 31- August 1, California Speedway
Oct 9-10, Infineon Raceway
Nov 6-7 Buttonwillow Raceway

Our goal is that each race weekend feature a social event. These social events will bring AI, CMC and FFR racers and crews together for some off track fun. This is very much a work in progress and your input on activities is requested. We are also looking for sponsors to step to the plate and host these social activities. The final event of the year will feature an awards banquet that all the racers, and their families, are invited to attend.

We look forward to seeing the California AI/CMC and FFR racers for the 2010 season!

Due to the (potential) differences in number of races between NorCal and SoCal, here's how we're dealing with drops:

NorCal - 4 events * 3 races = 12 races for the NorCal Championship, drop one full weekend (3 races)
SoCal - 4 events * 2 races = 8 races for the SoCal Championship, drop one full weekend (2 races)
West Coast - 8 events * 2 races per weekend (we will count ONLY the Toyo races) = 16 races for the West Coast Championship, drop one full weekend (2 races)
