2015 RCR #4

RCR is to allow slotted rotors:

---1) Tyler Gardner / TX / #013
---2) 7.32.8.3
---3) Rotors shall be cast iron only and may be vented. No cross drilling is allowed.
---4)
---------->a) Will decrease series cost because slotted rotors are much easier to find.
---------->b) Will promote series growth because slotted rotors are much easier to obtain.
---------->c) Slotted rotors provide no apparent competitive advantage and we could share rings with AI in a bind.
Here is an example for the fact that the plain rotors are difficult to find, they are special order.
http://www.stoptech.com/products/big-br ... ero-rotors

Stoptech only lists slotted and drilled rotors on their website.

We could also potentially use other manufactures but none of them make them plain, for example, racing brake.

We have been having issues with stoptech rotors wallerin out, we would like to try other manufactures but the rules make this extremely difficult.
A simple google search for "332x32mm plain rotor rings" returns nothing usable.

Additionally we could use our hawk contingency to purchase hawk rotors but they are only avail in slotted.

Another benefit to allowing slotted rotors is the ability to share with AI, it could mean the difference between someone going home vs racing that weekend.

Wilwood makes plain face rotor rings for like $40:

Would those work for you?

Which rotors are you looking at? The right size appears to be either $225 or 285 each.

Yep - $200 plus.

The price will often indicate the durability of the rotor. @ $40 per ring, my bet is those are for something like a dirt car. Speeds are minimal, weight is low and grip is low.

My apologies. I meant to say $210, but my fingers were not attached to my brain at the time.
These are what I was looking at:
http://www.wilwood.com/Rotors/RotorProd ... =160-12786

The others Tyler mentioned were all $250-$300 each in 332x32 size.
I could only find 11.75" and 12.19" size. I don't think they make a 13.1" rotor ring. At least I could not find any.

The Hawk reference was for the rears, those wilwood rings wont work with the stoptech hats. The purpose of the rule change is to make it easier to swap with AI, easier to find rings, more options, and no apparent performance benefit. I feel like plain rings are getting harder and harder to find so this would help us going forward.
