I believe I may have found the solution, although, a bit complicated as I have been trying to keep the wiring as simple as possible...
I will have a solenoid mounted within a few inches of the battery. The cable will come off the battery and through the remote solenoid to the solenoid on the mini starter. The "S" post on the solenoid near the battery will then trigger a 30 amp relay. The 30 amp relay will then trigger the solenoid on the mini starter. The use of the relay should keep the amperage load low enough for the push button...
This way the long cable running along the transmission tunnel will only be "hot" when the engine is cranking.
